Tony Stokes (left) commenced work as an apprentice compositor on the Wiltshire County Newspaper. His management career began at Butler & Tanner Book Printers in Somerset.
In 1972, Tony founded The Enfield Printing Company, which consisted of two Rotaprints and five staff. The opportunity to print a monthly magazine for a local Institute encouraged the Company to move into larger premises in 1975 and become a specialist in short-run magazine printing. Rapid growth throughout the 70's and 80's soon had the Company needing to move again so the current site was purchased. The name of the company was changed, a purpose built factory was constructed and in 1989, The Magazine Printing Company was born on the Brimsdown Industrial Estate, Enfield. The name sums us up perfectly and reflects our now well established trading image.
MPC took on board all the latest technology available and has continued with that philosophy, remaining at the forefront of technology and upgrading continuously in order to achieve ultimate levels of efficiency, reliability and quality. Only top quality equipment is used for all production processes including Agfa computer-to-plate systems, Heidelberg offset presses, Muller Martini binding lines and Bhurs mailing line. We operate over a 24 hour day.
The management team and production staff are very experienced and knowledgeable in handling magazine production and are extremely aware of the demanding requirements and tight deadlines of publishers. That's why every magazine title is initially looked after by our Customer Services Director who then assigns it to one of his dedicated Production Controllers. They then work with the customer on an ongoing basis to ensure the smooth flow of the magazine into and out of MPC's factory.
